Where the name comes from
Bacatá was the original name of the Muisca settlement that became Bogotá — a word that, in the Chibcha language, carried the idea of a cultivated plain, a place people returned to find their footing. We chose that name deliberately.
The firm was started in 2019 by two advisors who had spent years inside larger consulting structures and found themselves frustrated by how rarely those structures actually listened to clients. They wanted to build something smaller and more honest — a practice where the quality of a conversation mattered more than the thickness of a report.
Today we work with owners of small and mid-sized firms across Colombia — mostly in Bogotá, Medellín, and Cali — who are at turning points: preparing for growth, dealing with a setback, or simply feeling that something in the business has drifted and they are not sure what. We do not pretend to have all the answers. We are good at helping people find their own.

Senior Advisor & Co-founder
Camilo spent twelve years in corporate finance before founding Bacatá. He leads Foundations Reviews and Quarterly Companion engagements, with particular attention to financial structure and strategy alignment.
Lucía Vargas
Operations Advisor & Co-founder
Lucía brings a background in organizational design and operations. She specializes in Direction Sessions and facilitating cross-functional reviews for businesses navigating internal change.
Andrés Molina
Associate Advisor
Andrés joined Bacatá in 2022. His background is in market analysis and competitive positioning, and he supports clients in the Quarterly Companion program with research and documentation between sessions.

Standards we hold ourselves to
Strict confidentiality
Client information is never shared with third parties. We offer non-disclosure agreements before any engagement and hold ourselves to professional discretion as a baseline, not an option.
Written outputs every time
Every engagement produces a clear written document — a summary, a plan, or a roadmap. We do not deliver advice verbally and leave it to the client to reconstruct it later.
Colombia market expertise
Our advisory is grounded in direct knowledge of the Colombian business environment — regulatory context, economic cycles, sector dynamics — not imported frameworks designed for other markets.
Transparent scope and fees
We state exactly what each engagement includes and what it costs before any commitment is made. There are no additional charges beyond the agreed fee.
Senior involvement throughout
The advisor you meet at the start is the same person delivering your work. We do not hand engagements down to junior staff once the client has agreed to proceed.
Follow-through, not just delivery
Our engagements include a follow-up call or check-in after the main work is done, so we can see whether the plan is actually working and adjust if needed.
Who We Serve
Business advisory for Colombia's mid-market
Most of our clients are owners or senior leaders of firms with between five and eighty people. They have typically built something meaningful but arrived at a moment where the path forward is less obvious than it once was. They do not need a large consulting project — they need someone to think alongside them for a defined period of time.
We have worked with firms in professional services, light manufacturing, retail distribution, and technology. We have helped leadership teams prepare for ownership transitions, restructure their management layers, and reorient their strategy after a difficult period. The specifics vary; the approach does not change much.
Bacatá is a registered advisory practice based in Bogotá, Colombia. Our advisors hold backgrounds in corporate finance, organizational design, and market strategy. We are members of the Asociación Colombiana de Consultores de Empresas and hold ourselves to the professional standards that membership entails.
